It really doesn't matter that you see it as an argument between you and this annoying lady (everyone has one of those in every sport and school). What the kids saw was you arguing with the ump and making rude, condescending remarks towards him. It doesn't matter that you didn't say anything to the kids. It's not just that you're not allowed to insult kids, you're also not allowed to argue or insult the ump or the coaches. The children all know this. Seriously, does anyone ever see the kids start arguing with the ump? Arguing with the coaches? Regardless of what else happened that's what the kids (especially your own as they hear their own parents the loudest) heard going on. |
