that Catholic confession is done so they can absolve you of your sins. Only Christ can do that. I've never heard a priest say confession was to make people feel better! Confession is not the same as counseling. Quick definitions (absolution) noun: the act of absolving or remitting; formal redemption as pronounced by a priest in the sacrament of penance noun: the condition of being formally forgiven by a priest in the sacrament of penance
