for a fellow classmate whose parents found he had hung himself in his bedroom. This was not a close friend of my sons but they have had a class here and there together over the years. This year only 1 class together. My husband and I aren't even sure if we recognized the boy's name.
There is speculation that he may have been doing the "strangulation game" to get a quick high. I am not sure if anyone will ever know the truth.
I know there will be much speculation and lots of rumors (most students first heard he had been in a car accident).
My son tried to tell me as much as he knew about the boy without saying things he didn't know for sure. He said that the boy seemed very average (just like himself), he seemed to have several of friends, did not seem at all like the kind to do drugs, and he said he never saw any signs of this boy being bullied.
Without trying to stereotype he just didn't seem like the type to do something like this. I know that when I tried it at 19 the only person that wasn't completely SHOCKED was me.
It is just so tragic and sad. Please parents, talk to your kids as much as possible about anything and everything. Just stay as involved in their lives as possible. I am not blaming the parents in anyway, just maybe somehow something could have been done to prevent this. |
