In Reply to: I have a friend like that too, SM - Right there with ya

My best friend/sister-in-law has MS. We are in our late 30's. Now, it is not progressing in the 20 years she has had it (I have known her longer than those 20 years)- She does have periods of imbalance and numbness in her legs I believe (as she will always talk about it).

We live in the same town as a major amusement park and all of our kids have season passes so we go frequently together with the kids in the summer.

She always parks in handicapped parking - but then proceeds to walk around the park for 6 to 8 hours at a shot. Now handicapped parking is on the same side as the main entrance, but regular parking is across the street in a giant parking lot, over a little bridge, from the main entrance - probably a half-mile away when all is said and done. Now, I understands that she does have symptoms on and off, but - if you can walk around an amusement park for that long on THAT day, I think that on that day, you can park where everyone else does and leave the handicapped spot for someone else. What irritates me is that in almost every conversation she will mention parking in handicapped (whenever they go somewhere). But the real idiocy is that some of those handicapped spots are FURTHER away from where ya need to go than the regular parking - for example, the Little League field where our kids played last summer. We got a spot closer to her kid's playing field than she did when she parked in handicapped. How silly.

Now, I have (fairly recently diagnosed)asthma where I have trouble breathing when it is too hot or too cold out, and I suppose "exercise-induced". If I don't feel that great on a hot summer day, it's very simple - I don't go to walk around an amusement park all day.

Am I being a B***? Personally, I think she is someone who craves attention and that's why she alwys talks about parking in handicapped.
