both my now husband and myself were the abused ones in our respective marriages and we don't regret staying together for the sake of the children. His son was 16 when we married and he was the youngest. He came to live with us, at that point, since he was homeless. (Don't ask.)
People our age were taught suffering was good "for the sake of the children". I realize younger women today don't believe it and I actually think that's fine. However, it isn't easy raising children on your own, unless you have family support, both emotionally and, more importantly, financially. It isn't easy. |
