That's why our family decided to talk with our youth pastor at church and as terrible as it may sound, I requested she be sure whoever received the money we donated not be on any lists and I wanted to be sure they were trying to make ends meet and not expecting anyone to help. There are soooo many people out there who could use the help and won't ask for it... and those were the ones we wanted to help. In the past we have adopted families and found out later they were on every charity list available. My mother actually delivered for a charity one year and she was sooo disgusted when she arrived at a couple of homes and saw empty alcohol bottles laying around, etc.. It seems so many people have warped priorities. |
