I really like the idea of 3 gifts each. My kids' most expensive gift was a shared gift at $80. Most gifts were between $5 and $20. Candy and dollar store stuff in their stockings. I believe that if you start buying iPods and game systems for them when they are young, what are they going to want when they are 12, 15 years old? They will have all the "toys." The cell phone is a great way to keep in touch and know where you kid is, but my kids won't have phones until they are older and prove to me that they are responsible and will take care of them. Plus, they will have to help pay for the minutes. (My kids are 3 and 5.) I guess my kids are spoiled, but they do not act spoiled. I will not buy them something just because so-and-so has it, I try to teach them 'don't worry about what he/she does or has, worry about yourself.' |
