I read the rest of your question....get fiber wafers and have her start on them now...they can cause indigestion and gas until you are used to them. This will come in so handy when on narcotic pain medications. Also, dulcolax gave me terrible cramps so if she is sensitive MiraLax may be easier to take. She'll need large ice packs to keep the swelling down.
go ahead and make a drain recording table to write down the amounts of drainage. They need this to decide when to remove the drains.

Important: Another lesson learned the Hard Way.
Save some pain meds for the postoperative visit when they remove the drains.
Save some pain meds or get another refill because in about 1 month when the swelling goes down, you start to get increased sensation and you "feel" everything they did to you. My visiting nurse was gracious enough to explain this to me. My plastic surgeon never mentioned the pain for the axillary Jackson-Pratt drains coming out or the increased pain when the edema subsides. I'll keep your friend in my prayers.
