With the little minds sometimes maturing faster than the bladder muscles, potty training can be very difficult. The little one can tell you when they are "wet," but just cannot control the bladder.
Our grandsons were almost 3 years old (as was our son) before completely potty trained. Our granddaughter (and daughter) was potty trained at 2 years of age. So, the "old saying" may be correct -- little girls mature faster than little boys.
