I have taken care of and have potty trained a lot of little boys over the years all starting before 2 and the best thing I found was putting cheerios in the toilet and having them try to shoot the cheerios, like target practice. I have also used fruit loops and made a game of which color they could hit. Anything that floats and is flushable is fair game. They love the game and always want to go potty.
If it is warm where you live a few days going pee outside works too. They can go when they want, do it themselves and learn how to control their urges quickly.
On the other hand, #2 for most boys I have found is harder. They usualy hold it for too long and need to get their bowels on a regular cycle. I have had a couple boys up until 4 hold it all day long and then go home and their mother would put a diaper on them so they would go and then want to be changed right away. As soon as the mothers stopped that though the child went to the potty fine. I would recomend talking with his doctor if that happens.
Good Luck!!! It will happen when he is ready. |
