of the attacks. I have seen the same thing in the media against Palin and on liberal blogs, magazines (the US Magazine covers of Palin and of Obama). There is no fairness anymore. Democrats say they believe in the Bill of Rights, one of which is freedom of religion, but if anyone says anything about being pro life you get attacked as the religious right, go back to your church, religious wacko...to name a few. Does that sound like they support freedom of religion? It is not just this board, although it appears particularly mean here. It is all over. And the double standard is staggering...just staggering.
Yes, I admit that there are those who support Bush just because he is a Republican. However, if you will notice, many Republicans oppose him on different issues. McCain opposed him on many. If a Democrat bucks the party, they excommunicate them. Poor Joe Lieberman had to run as an independent.
That kind of control over the political process and wanting to silence all opposition is not healthy, it is not democratic, and is unAmerican as far as I am concerned. And it is the far left who have control of the party right now.
So I will modify my statement...as long as the Democratic party functions as it is right now, I would never vote for a Democrat. Party before country, party before anything...including fellow americans.
THAT is why I am independent, and what happened this year has certainly changed my opinion of the democratic party. I am sure there are those who don't share the radical view...the problem is the public face of the party is what happens on these boards, blogs....there is a difference.
Let's put it this way....I was a whole lot more objective before this election cycle. This has been particularly ugly. It is okay to disagree on issues or who should be president...but when you attack someone with nasty remarks (redneck, ignorant, bible thumper, need I go on) just because someone belongs to a different party...beyond the pale.
Sorry, that's how I feel. Those kinds of feelings at the top of the party + the power of the Presidency...no thanks. |
