I work at a hospital in the Health Information Management office.  There is me, about 6 other transcriptionists, 3 coders and 5 clerks.  It gets VERY loud.  I know it gets frusturating, but you'll get used to it.  Also, if you could invest in (or get your company to buy) a pair of Bose headphones, you will be amazed at what a difference it makes.  It cuts out probably 2/3 of the noise.  Good LUCK!!!
