I see jobs advertised for coders a lot at 2 local hospitals around where I live. There are other hospitals in outlying smaller towns that have jobs occasionally. I haven't seen a medical transcription job at the hospitals or in the local newspaper in over 3 years. It may be hard to break into coding, but even at age 55, I want to try. I've just had it with transcription. I'm sitting here waiting for work as I type this. I have to earn regular money and not just when work happens to be in the system. I still think I will continue to look into switching to coding. |
I think the pay is about the same for coders as MTs..(sm) - Old MT
