 FRANKLIN, Tenn., May 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Spheris, a leading
global provider of medical transcription technology and services, today
announced the completion of its acquisition of Vianeta Communications, a
leading developer and supplier of enterprise-wide clinical documentation
technology for hospitals, health systems and group practices.
The acquisition further expands Spheris' ability to deploy technology
and service solutions for healthcare providers of any size and complexity.
Virtually all healthcare specialties, including radiology, will be able to
benefit from Spheris' enhanced clinical documentation technology and
service options.
"Customers are telling us they want an integrated technology and
service solution that is flexible enough to be combined and deployed
effectively across their health information management and radiology IT
systems," said Steven E. Simpson, Spheris president and chief executive
officer. "The acquisition of Vianeta significantly expands Spheris'
technological capabilities, including speech recognition and XML data
tagging for use with electronic health records, and thereby enhances our
ability to meet the evolving and unique needs of all healthcare
organizations."
"Bringing Spheris and Vianeta together combines what we believe to be
the most advanced technology in the medical transcription industry with the
most powerful global network of medical transcriptionists," said Vianeta
chief executive officer Ralph Aceves. "By joining forces, we believe we've
created the best possible solution for addressing the growing expectations
of our customers to improve quality, productivity and turnaround time."
Working together as a combined entity, Spheris and Vianeta are already
in discussions with several major healthcare institutions about the
expanded capabilities made possible by the acquisition. "The favorable
responses already given by our existing customers and potential new
customers have confirmed the value proposition we created by joining the
two organizations," said Simpson.
In addition to continuing to service and enhance the Vianeta solutions
currently deployed in the marketplace, Spheris will integrate the two
organizations over the next several months and anticipates the announcement
of new product offerings in the near future. Financial terms of the
parties' agreement were not disclosed.
