An IC decides when they work and it can be variable. An IC does not have to commit to a set schedule, no matter who determines the schedule. And that is what the companies are taking advantage of. If you read the ads, they are not telling you when work is available, they are telling you when they want you to work. Period. That makes you an employee. If they say first shift Tuesday through Saturday or anything to that effect, they are telling you when to work. That simply is not what an IC is. I am out of here now because today I am choosing to start working at 11:30 a.m. CST after choosing to take the day off yesterday. I work for a company that knows what IC means and honors it. |
