ASR is a joke and any of us who have edited it think that. You know, a while back JLG dumped their ASR and fired their MEs. One can hope it was for a legal reason and that this will be a trend because it SHOULD BE.
I know where I work we have ASR. I have read posts by some of our ASR gals. They only edit every other paragraph, or edit without the voice, or skim rather than read the document because they have a line quota. It is just like it is with a sloppy MT and the work that comes out IS JUST AWFUL. I know this because I have access to all the past reports. Hand me a document with really silly errors in it and I'll show an ASR document that was *edited*.
I don't have any difficulty being appreciated at work. BOTH my companies value me to a point I find embarrassing. Yes, I am a crackerjack MT, very good at what I do, but it is MY ATTITUDE that has won friends and influenced people. Besides that, I appreciate myself. I have long ago quit worrying about this industry and made the most of what is in front me. This is why both my companies put plenty in front of me to do and they don't ask that I do ASR at all, I am too valuable where I am.
