AVG is tops. SpyBot SD is what I use for spyware, too. Those two are free and they are better than any that can be bought. The problem with the virus KC has, if it is the exact as mine was (and it sounds just like it), is that you can go onto another computer and download a copy of AVG and SpyBot SD, put them on the infected computer, but they will not be able to get updates, so therefore they will not work. I tried this in Safe Mode also, and it would not work.
KC - Once this virus is taken care of, I highly recommend AVG and SpyBot Search & Destroy. Make sure that SpyBot Search & Destroy IS the one you download. There is one that is just plain SpyBot (not SD) that is actually a virus/spyware like you are dealing with now. |
