5 years as an MT and I wish I'd found this profession years sooner! I've doubled my best income over any other job I've ever had - even cushy state government jobs. I love not having to deal with commuting, office politics, and traditional office hours - that part alone is priceless to me. I find this work challenging, rewarding, and feel like it matters - unlike other venues where I had contempt for the industry in general and the clients in particular (when I worked typing dog show entries clients actually cried when their doggie didn't get entered because they missed the entry deadline - can you imagine!). I know there's a real person whose life is affected by each job I type, and I feel good to get their report out quickly and get them on their way to feeling better. This is meaningful work, and I'm proud to do it. |
