I've been an MT for 20 years and absolutely love it! I have never worked in an office or for a service, though, which is probably why I still love my job  I also have been doing law enforcement/parole transcription for 3 years now and that is the area I really want to move into more permanently and in that, I do work for a service. They treat me absolutely wonderfully and I couldn't have made a better move 
There are thousands and thousands physician offices and specialities out there who don't want to use a large company - those of you who just can't seem to find a fit with a large company may want to go that route... It's not that hard to procure a couple of doctors on your own, really. I literally went door to door, dropping off my resume/pamphlet (nothing flashy) and got 4 neurologists - 3 are in the same office and one is a referral from them... I've had chiropractors, physical therapy clinics, neurosurgeons, orthos, ophthalmologists - you name it...I had to give those up to keep the neurologists - couldn't find anyone in the field who knew what they were doing and most of all, were dependable... this profession is riddled with flakes! (now please don't get offended)... For every 100 applicants 1 or 2 would be what they said and were worthwhile, but after a while, they weren't serious about their profession and that was that... |
