On the contrary I think most truly love the work they do and find it very fulfilling. If you have been in this biz for a long while it has changed, from a one quite highly respected profession with very good compensation (as it should be) to a profession that is thought much less of than years prior, and with that a slow decline in compensation for the professional work that we do. I think most MTs love the profession, but don't like the decline in wages nor the lack of professional recognition that was the case years ago. Wages have been stagnant or even lowered over the last 10 years. If suddenly MTs were being compensated instead of the norm of 8 cents per line suddenly to 11 cents a line or more the atttitude of the MT would drastically cahnge. No one who does highly skilled and profession work is ever happy watching their skills being demeaned through the years,, although they still may love the work that they do. |
