I worked at my local hospital for 8 years and typed reports on myself, my family members, my friends, my coworkers and the people I was sitting right next to.  It is not in any way illegal to type reports on people you know or are related to, it is your job.  Follow HIPAA (sounds like you already do) and you will be just fine.  But if you truly are uncomfortable knowing that kind of information about your family members, explain the situation to your supervisor and I'm sure he/she will understand.
