I am a CMT and unfortunately it did not improve my pay scale. As for all MTs, my pay scale has been going down steadily since the 1990s. Figure out what you pay (if you do; some employers are paying for it) and if they give you an increase in pay, how long it will take you to make up for the price you pay for the exam. Now my renewal is due and I am not sure if I am going to renew.
