If the company provides long-term disability insurance, what would be the reason for choosing to have short-term disability insurance? Does anyone have that? If so, what are the actual premiums? The formula for figuring out the premiums seems obtuse to me. ...

I'm a disabled MT (Radiology) and am able to earn $720 per month per govt guidelines. I had the ideal job until recently thanks to VR. I was able to work a few hours each day until I reached my $720 limit. Don't think I could work 8 hours at this point so giving up my disability is doubtful as I have lung damage. My current MTSO gave me the option of employee status or IC. I chose IC.
