How to type up an INVOICE for the clinic I work for - Christina

I am a new transcriptionist working from home for a local clinic. I am getting paid 13 cents per line based on a 65 character line (including spaces) and am typing this thru Microsoft Word Office 2007. It shows the line count and character count at the bottom of the page in a box I can open up. Do I just take what the line count says it is and that is my line count for that document? Or do I need to divide the character count w/spaces by 65 for the line count? Second question...does anyone have an example of an invoice that I can go by to make out my invoice for the clinic for my lines typed? And they are also requiring some sort of "proof" of my line counts. How would I provide that? Any help is much appreciated!!! Need this by tomorrow if possible.

Line counting software - Free Trial
[ In Reply To ..]I use Sylcount Line Counting Software. It will count your lines, calculate your $$ total based on the settings you set, and put it in report or invoice format that you can submit to your client. It will count one document or multiple documents. It is super simple to use.
Sylcount offers a free trial so you can check it out and see how it works before deciding to purchase.
If you decide to buy, the download is something like $40 for the "lines-only" version - which is what I use for three different clinic accounts and is just fine .. don't need the "Gold" version.
The accuracy and time saved is well worth the minimal investment.
This should be "proof" enough for your client as well. The only other way I think they could really "prove" is to count it themselves.

[ In Reply To ..]Your count should be based on whatever your contract says you would count by, gross line, Word count, or 65 character with/without spaces, etc. When I was checking out the different counters out there I found that Sylcount actually shorted me lines. Most of the others also have a free trial, Practicount, Abacus, etc. Try them all and decide which is best for you. Each have slightly different options and differing ease of use.

If they need proof, you would either have to list each report you do with the line count or perhaps lines per day or whatever you and your client work out. On mine, it was one report name per day. I typed all reports under that report name with a page break in between them and a separate sheet with the line count for that day. Then every other week, which is what my billing cycle was, I would send the invoice with the report number for each day along with the line count for that day, then the total at the bottom and multiplied it by line rate to get grand total due. They can check the line counts if they want per day by selecting all and clicking line count. I don't know if there is really a standard template for this.

[ In Reply To ..]are to be typed and it will create an invoice with character count and line count in columns and total them up for you of all the reports you have transcribed. Then at the bottom I just multiply the cpl by the line count and put that as the total owed.

with 1 other girl, and then the QA girl types on this clinic also. I still have not figured this out. We keep the work caught up and this QA girl gets on there and types with us when there is nothing to type. I mean there can be 10 jobs there and she will get on to help us type 10 jobs. My company makes me type any other clinic that is behind and this being the holiday, we have been given an extra 45-50 jobs to type from other clinics and the QA girl is nowhere to be seen ...
