First, you want to leave with eligibility for rehire. If you don't give and work out your 2-week notice, you're not eligible for rehire.

Second, this is definitely information that is usually asked when references are checked. Maybe you did well with MQ for the X years you were here but if you give no notice or give notice and fail to work it out, then your ineligibility for rehire will be the piece of information given on a reference and could make another employer rethink hiring you.

Third, it says quite a bit about you. Your actions speak far louder than your words. If you're not willing to give an appropriate notice to vacate a position, why should another company invest in you? It's the professional, mature and right thing to do.

If you can't see past that, then you're probably going to continue with a bumpy road in your employment.
