Yes, I do know this happens. My previous supervisor had NO MT experience, and when the layoff happened last year, several of the QA in her BOB were let go and asked to reapply as MTs and she was 'demoted' to QA. I don't know how she's doing with it, but I do know that she is still there, QAing her little heart out!
