The problem is that the information (names, addresses, DOB, SSN, etc.) can already be found online without much trouble. Usually, you just visit a site and pay a small fee to obtain the information. Yes, if a person here in the US was obtaining and selling private information that they obtained from their job, they would be subject to legal action. This is already happening here on a daily basis. It's called identity theft. Why would a foreign MT be any more likely to steal information than an American MT? Because they are not subject to the same laws? That's possible. But it is also possible for someone here in the US to work around those laws. We already have plenty of Americans who are committing identity theft already. Also, a person could steal information from any MTs computer without their knowledge simply by installing Spyware and then sharing the information. |
