what do you mean by records leaving the country. ?
the internet is a global technology. it doesn't matter if only US MTs are doing the transcription or whether someone in India or the planet Mars is typing this stuff....its all in the SAME PLACE - on the internet!!
other than us being afraid of losing our jobs to someone who is more than likely fairly qualified but getting paid LESS, i don't really see what the issue is.
there's an article on CNN today about how everyone's records are on the internet now. this has little to do with Medquist. they are simply embracing the technology and trying to save a buck, like everyone else. it sucks that we may be collateral damage from all of this, but all this anger is only hurting you, not them.
i think we as human beings would be best served putting our energy into living our lives, doing a good job at whatever it is we do, sending out waves of positivity.
things are getting just a bit too toxic in here for there to be any room for a productive conversation.
i'm all for writing one's congressman and senators, and finding other legal avenues for communicating our thoughts and protests over this situation. i do it frequently for causes i believe in.
but sitting in a room of toxic fumes, such as this room here has become, is just going to give you ulcers, or something worse, and your loved ones are probably suffering as well, because the negativity spewing out of your pores is contageous and leads to depression.
