Can't we come up with an organized way of fighting this without joining or creating a Union? I feel like MTs, in general, are an independent-minded group of people - I think some of us want to fight this without having to join a group with a set of rules to follow if possible.
We all have completely different situations. Some MTs cannot quit MQ right now, or are not ready to do so, and may not want to violate company policy by contacting hospitals in their BOB. Nothing wrong with that. Others may feel bending the rules right now is necessary...nothing wrong with that either. Some of us are against offshoring because of personal/moral beliefs, or political reasons, or reasons of security...some of us only care about not losing our jobs or about being forced to adjust our personal lives and routines. Nothing wrong with any of those reasons either. Who cares? Don't we want the same goal? There is no point in arguing with each other about any of this.
So what is the common denominator in all of this? I think the bottom line is we are fighting for our freedom to choose and not have this chosen for us, or in other words, our independence - a word loved by MTs everywhere.
So we have a goal - to fight the offshoring of US medical transcription jobs.
What is the most direct way to reach that goal? I think this is where it gets tricky. Contacting doctors and hospitals and politicians is the obvious way, but who the heck wants to wait for them to do something? What else can we do? Let's stop the stupid pointless arguing and just start coming up with ideas.
Not that I have a good idea right this minute LOL But I am working on it. If we start discussing ideas, maybe inspiration will strike. I was thinking maybe we could have a lawyer evaluate this? |
