chance of being sued for not informing their clients that their medical records are leaving the country. I don't care what anyone says, most physician practices (and some hospitals, however I know many hospital administrators are aware)that this is occurring. One must remember, however, that these companies who contract with the physician or hospital, can easily portray themselves as a U.S. based company with a store front in the U.S., and a toll free 888 or 800 number. This is what our U.S. physician practices, hospitals and clinics need to be made aware of. For those who claim the U.S. physician does not care if records are leaving the country, I strongly disagree. Many of them are so wrapped up with meeting patient quotas and dealing with insurance reimbursements, they are absolutely clueless to where their patients' records are going. The only thing they may see is the monthly bill. It is our job to inform them of the situation. Word will spread on this ridiculous situation. |
