yes, don't get disheartened by everything you read here. i had to stop coming here so much because along with my own tendency to be negative, reading all the negativity here was just getting to me. not that there isn't a reason for the negativity, there is.
i somehow managed to complain enough, and have gotten to a good place, communication-wise, with my PS, that she has tweaked some things and I am now getting less ASR and more primary. of course, this past week it was back to a different hospital all the time, but today things are kind of back to normal for me. i know it won't last, but i'm grateful for the break from the so-called cesspool for as long as possible.
i have managed to find a 2nd, part-time, job with a very small MT company, and man, oh man, it is like night and day. of course, i will be an IC for this company, which is why i will stay with MQ, because i need the benefits, but i just don't make enough money with one job. but just going through all the job hunting, checking out a few different MT companies, some of whom came referred by people here and some friends of mine, it was kind of eye opening, and made me realize a bunch of things, mainly that the bigger the company, the crappier they will be to work for. i pretty much feel like most of the big MT work at home companies just aren't that different from MQ.
the smaller ones, that offer no benefits, pay you better and have more flexibility.
you have to look around, find what is most important to you and where you fit. you might be fine with MQ. i'd recommend staying off these boards and coming to your own conclusions. i'm grateful this message board is here, but i'm kind of glad i didn't know it existed until i'd worked at MQ for a year and half. this place can be supportive and educational, as well as just feeding your own negativity.
