Its ridiculous and NOBODY else out there in our MT world does that. Who knows their coworkers, right? At MQ, we are all isolated. Even in the outside world, I have never had to give a coworker reference, always just supervisor. And that can even be a ridiculous question at MQ - supervisor referral. And what if you are leaving, but don't yet want MQ to know? That sort of burns that bridge for you. I've only run into 1 recruiter who insisted on this, and for different companies, so I think its just him. Of course, if you are leaving and don't care, then the supervisor request would be fine, but good luck for anyone reaching a supervisor, too! Win-win situation for us! |
