My son had a computer, watched TV, all the teenage stuff when he was in school. But, if his classes were dumbed down and boring, I could not blame TV and smut on TV for the lack of teaching in the schools. Teachers have their hands tied when it comes to actually teaching. They are forced to teach what the government wants them to teach, if the schools want to receive government handouts. My daughter was fortunate enough to be in a public school system that did not receive a dime of government money, and because of that, her school had the highest number of teachers with master degrees, compared with a private school across the street, who had less. They did not have to dumb down their children, teach government garbage, award kids for being unprepared and heaven forbid, one felt dumber than the other. You studied your butt off and nothing was given to her just for showing up.
Where we live now, a kid can go to school all year, not miss a day, pass with a D, making no effort to learn, and still get a reward for not missing school. A child who makes little effort, missed no days of school, makes a C, can be EXEMPT from testing because they didn't miss any school..BUT a child who makes all A's, is in Advanced Placement classes, misses a day or two of school due to illness, CANNOT be exempt from school because they missed school. I cannot tell you how many advanced placement kids come to school sick as dogs because they feel they cannot miss school. On the other hand, at least in this area, the D kids just take up seats, couldn't care less about their education, and show up because if they don't, their attendance is based on their mothers getting a welfare check, so they show up to warm a seat. Who cares.....making them attend is NOT making them smarter. I say let'em go. I don't want to pay for someone to show up just to get their check. What a joke!!!!!! Tell me any other advanced country that allows that garbage? |
