so not a terribly long time, but longer than any other job I've had.
A few nice things about old TL:
They sent a birthday card that always came BEFORE my birthday.
We received acount-specific training that included printed client profiles and sample jobs, talked through profile with a trainer, then typed a few jobs on our own, which the trainer promptly reviewed. If made the grade, we were put on full filter (QA) for two weeks before being turned loose.
TL was smaller and more personal. The left hand knew what the right was doing.
OTOH, we rented a computer and transcription station (Dictaphone, Lanier) if we didn't have our own. At least, MQ doesn't charge us any more for equipment. That's the only positive I can think of.
MQ's is a classic story of business going well, too-rapid expansion, followed by problems. And times have changed with technology. Most homes didn't have a computer, speech recognition was primitive (hasn't improved much!), and off-shore competition wasn't a factor, among other things.
I'm doing my best for now and looking into other professions. It saddens me a little, though, because I really do like my job.
