Maybe I should rephrase what I said about showing up...which is actually pretty important. You said it much better than I did when you said they need to be praised for their efforts but not rewarded so much.
I think I wanted to say that those of us who were kids and received crappy educations after the 1960s certainly didn't have much choice in the matter...the system was chosen by adults who had the benefit of what sounds like a better education. But if it was so perfect and so much better, why did they change things? There must have been some flaws. Don't get me wrong, I don't think things are all that great now...I just don't think we are a worse bunch of morons than any previous generation either.
PS. You sound like a smart girl to me.
