He took 1st and 2nd in his wt class because no one else showed up and he took 3rd and 4th in 2 other wt classes because there were only 3 and 4 kids that showed up in those divisions.
Meanwhile, my other son competed in a wt division with about 7 kids and didn't get a trophy for placing 5th. You can imagine that car ride home!!
I think that kids need to be praised for their efforts but not rewarded so much. When you start giving everyone trophies, suddenly the ones you really earn don't mean as much.
The education system we have isn't working. The govt knows that and yet they do nothing to change it because we look good on paper. If we're so smart, how come we're paying $4 a gallon for gas? If we're so smart, how come we keep giving money to other countries that isn't going to be paid back and we can't even take care of our own people?
