I use my own laptop for MQ. I use WP5.1 on an old Windows 98 system for my IC work. I will be switching to a laptop for both, but my own.
The only MQ equipment I have is the foot pedal, and I'm getting ready to replace that.
The price of computers has come down (mhy 1st was 2K). I prefer to own my own equipment. I think if you are branching out, it would be in your best interests to get your own system.
Because some of the software is still not compatible with Vista (MQ is, WP5.1 is not) you might look soon or at used (I got my Toshiba laptop on ebay for 500) and get an XP system. MicroSoft is getting ready to dump XP, but I think you're better off with it.
