In this industry, it's always good to have your eggs in more than one basket. You never know when a company will restrict you to 40 hours a week by making you an employee from statutory status. You never know when a company will cut pay for medical editing. You never know when a company will go to all medical editing making the pay cut across the board for everything. You never know when a company will stop paying for spaces (somewhere around a 20% pay cut). You just never know, so it's good to have money coming in from somewhere else at all times. It's so much easier than having to scramble for that new job/extra job when everybody else is too. It does get tiring, though. |
