I really don't have an answer for that one. I do know that in the past several months (perhaps longer) there has been a QA shortage and the PSs were told to tell all MTs who were interested in QA to go and take the test.
I do not know what the day-to-day duties of a PS entail, but I am under the impression that they already had more than they could handle.
In a way, I wish that I had been one of the 'lucky ones' who got to keep their job, but at the same time, those who are left are really going to have to step it up and add even more duties to their already-overcrowded day. I don't know how any of them will handle this.
My husband's employer did this a couple of years ago. They were 'downsizing' and 'cutting costs,' so they combined 2 positions into 1 and laid off those who were left over. Six months later, they realized what a major mistake this had been and they went into a scramble to try to undo what they had done. It took nearly 8 months to recover and get things back to a 'normal pace.' |
