I would also not hesitate to contact the facility that the account was lost from. Here is my story. I worked for a local service, doing the grunt work on a very heavy ESL facility because I was the newbie and no one else wanted it. I became very good at it. Then I left that service. The service immediately dropped that account because no one else would do it except for me, and of course I was not there. I started with another local transcription service, and since I knew for a fact that my previous service was no longer doing that account, we picked it up, and I trained the girls on it. Then, I left that service. They again dropped that account, and I picked up on personally, started my own business. I made very, very good money. I live in Indiana, it was an Illinois account. I made 18 cents a line!!!!!
The facility then wanted me to take over everything and go with digital equipment, which I could not afford. So, of course I ended that part of my career and moved on. I still do overflow for them at times though, especially when Joint Commission is coming to town. They bleed off digital onto tapes for me. It was a very wise decision on my part. GO FOR IT!
