and I'll tell you that you can't successfully do both no matter what people tell you. Your kids (or grandkids) will get neglected if you work your regular schedule. Why are you keeping them when you hav a FT job? Do you have custody? Just curious.
I've tried it and my 5 year old suffered the most until I went down to way PT. Now I only work 7-10 p.m. 5x a week and work every Sunday.
Now, there may be a few who swear their kids are just wonderful and are not neglected one bit by a work at home FT mom. I don't believe it, but they will swear by it. The kids won't tell you they are being neglected, but if you are working 8 hr days, then they are. They don't have your full, undivided attention and they need that at this age. They really do.
I have to work - and when they get older I will go back to FT. But, they need me more than MQ does right now.
I'm not a perfect parent, either! I mess up with my kids every day, but I do try harder now after seeing a major behavioral change in my 5 y.o. after me working so many hours! Good luck! |
