Advice on virus protection, spyware, etc. NEEDED!

I have been having probs for a long time so now I run scans every night before work and that seems to have helped.  I run Spybot and AdAware.  I do update these.  I also have McAffee that came with my MQ comp. (I also do the regular comp. cleanup stuff on a regular basis)

Last night I was unable to work because, even after running the scans, I couldn't do anything at all because Antivirus 2009 kept popping up and preventing me from doing anything.  I ran the scans again, turned off the comp, etc.  Nothing worked.  I even tried deleting it from the list that comes up when you click on start.  There was an option to remove it.  I did that.  It said it was successfully removed, but it wasn't.  It wasn't in control panel under 'uninstall or remove....'.  So I called MQ tech support.  I couldn't even access any page long enough for her to get into my comp.  She said it was a virus and now they are sending me a new comp.

I turned the comp off and this morning got back and it was still there, however, I was able to download Malware Bytes, which is what she wanted to do last night but we couldn't.  Ran that scan and fixed the problem.  Whew!  Long I know but just wanted to give details so you knew everything I already do.

My ques is....Is there anything better or anything else that I should/could be doing?  I thought running Spybot and AdAware, as well as having McAfee, that I wouldn't have any probs.  Now it looks like I'm going to be running 3 scans every day!!!  Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated.  Now I have to work ALL freaking day to make up my hours!  My husband just lost his job so I can't afford financially (or emotionally!) to be short any amount of $!

My next ques......I was totally freaking out last night because I have soooooo much info in MS Word and on the notepad that I use daily for work. Sample reps, etc.   I guess I should buy something to save all that info to in case this should happen again but I'm clueless on that sort of thing.  What do you guys recommend that is good but in a very, very affordable price range? as $ is tighter than tight right now.   I'd rather spend the $ on that than spend money on a prescription for antianxiety meds if this should happen again!  LOL  With hubby out of a job and me making peanuts, my stress level has gone through the roof!!!

Thank you!
