In Reply to: warning signs for losing primary? - curious

I've actually lost 2 primaries over the years.  The first one was about 5 years ago.  I noticed an immediate onslaught of work.  At the time, I thought they were getting ready for an audit or something.  Turns out, they trying to get everything done so they would start with a clean slate with the new company.  The second primary I lost was about 3 years ago.  The work was there 1 day and the next day it wasn't.  Then a few days later, it was back but not as much.  Then a few days later, nothing.  After about 2 weeks, I emailed my PS and she said that the contract was renewed but that the clinic went to in-house staff and we would only be on standby.

Both times, 1 of my backup accounts was made my primary and nothing more became of it.  I will say that this was prior to the whole cesspool thing, so who knows what they do now.  Your PS does have a say in this, though.  He/she can assign you a new primary, so don't be afraid to ask for one if this becomes the case.  Also, if your PS is telling you the primary is still with MQ and your work is drying up, I would ask for a new primary with the old account as a backup.  They can also do this.
