Yes my hospital also dumped their in-house MTs, but a very long time ago. Maybe about 15 years ago. Anyway the hospital went through chaos and adjustment period, which they called it. Doctors are very spoiled and used to having the dictation done immediately if not sooner. Well they did not like the new system at all, of course. The kicker is that the hospital thought they were saving money but using an outside service -- not so. Actually it cost them $50,000 a month to have dictation done outside. The 4 transcriptionists they got rid of -- well their salaries for one month did not come close to that much and anyway they still had to have 1 or 2 on board to edit the bad transcription from outside. I just got a good laugh from that. |
