I've been reading this board this morning and from what I can tell, VR isn't all it is cracked up to be. From my own perspective, I find it is really slave wages with the changes in style (sometimes periods after incomplete sentences and sometimes no periods, plus many other out of the ordinary from time honored accepted grammar guidelines, to name just a few of the changes) which makes you no good for other typing accounts because you become accustomed to doing it the Escription way. Anyway, from what I have gleaned here, it seems to me that we are on the verge of another revolt like we had in the late 70s (I have been around a long time in this business). Many of us walked off the job and took jobs at other secretarial type work because it paid the same. Not that we could do that now but we could find other work than this if we aren't going to be making any money using our extensive MT knowledge. The bottom line is that we have been ground down to practially minimum wage for something that takes years to learn and I do hope change is coming. Just my $.02 worth. |
