I am an employee at Keystrokes for less than a year. I am a Lead Transcriptionist with 27 years experience. I do work from my home (though not my living room - smile). I have worked for a lot of major (and smaller) transcription companies, as well as 2 major hospitals on site and several large medical clinics as an MT and also in management. I said all that to let you know that I really do have a lot of experience in this field.
I love working for Keystrokes. They are a smaller company, but are growing so fast that it is hard for them to keep up with everything. Yes, there have been a lot of changes - the good news is that the changes are to better the company and are beneficial to the employess/ICs.
It is true that it sometimes takes a couple of weeks to get going on an account. That is hard when you want to start tomorrow, but KS does not overhire. Therefore, when they need an MT, they hire that person and then have to get the paperwork back, get clearance and IDs on the account they were hird for, install account-specific software on the MTs computer, and arrange for training from the account Lead. Believe me, when someone is hired, I want them to start today, but it is not possible. However, if they are hired for a specific account, they have a place on that account and the work is there for them. If not, people are placed on secondary accounts.
Like I said, there have been changes. But, unlike some of the companies that make MTs miserable, the changes are things that make KS a better place to work and give added benefits to the MTs. I have not seen one thing taken from MTs. I am a Lead. I try to be available, fair, and friendly. Everyone I answer to does the same thing. If you would like to email me, I have left my email address. I will answer any questions I can.
To those who just want to flame a good company, you should be ashamed. You make many really good MTs decide not to check KS out - which is your intention.
Open to email or questions - happy KS'ER
