Why is TT out of H. always posting sm - MTmom

Posted: Dec 21, 2013

the same job ad(s) OVER and OVER again?

Because they purposely overhire. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Transtech is notorious for overhiring, which results in MTs quitting, and the cycle begins again.

Do you mean TTS of New Hampshire or...sm - Anon

[ In Reply To ..]
TransTech? Two different companies. TTS always has plenty of work. In fact, it's hard to get PTO/holiday time off because there are sometimes not enough MTs to cover when you want to be off. It's also easy to get OT/extra work when work is plentiful and it's not mandatory.

I think OP meant TransTech out of Houston - Too many abbreviations spoil the broth

[ In Reply To ..]
I had to think about the title for a few seconds to comprehend it, too. I realize some post from their phones and abbreviating is easier, but too many or too vague abbreviations sometimes muddy the context.

OP clearly said "TT out of H". Not sure why you're confused? - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
TT is Transtech (Houston). TTS is Transcription, Technology & Support (in NH). Not similar at all.
Thank you for pointing out my grievous error. sm - Anon
[ In Reply To ..]
but I'm not confused. There was a simiar mix-up between the 2 companies a few months back. I think you are mistaking my desire to help with confusion. I know you thought that, but one does not have to post their every thought, which happens way too much on this board, even when the purpose of the post is meant as a put-down.
Why the sarcasm? Poster was merely trying sm - MTmom
[ In Reply To ..]
to clarify any confusion.

I am the original poster. If I had meant TTS out of New Hampshire, I would have stated that.
In all fairness you didn't clearly state that - You said TT out of H
[ In Reply To ..]
It wasn't really as clear as you might have thought it was when you posted it. It would have been much better to just spell out TransTech to avoid any possible confusion what with all of the initials in some of the MTSO names.
But it was clear- OP said TT and NOT TTS - anon2
[ In Reply To ..]
OP said "TT in H" (and the responding poster clearly says "TransTech"), but for some reason, poster above asks "do you mean TTS of New Hampshire or TransTech" and starts talking about the workflow at Transcription, Technology & Support in New Hampshire (along with a followup sarcastic response). I personally was confused why that poster would add an extra letter and start talking about a company in New Hampshire.

I guess it's a case of those who have better reading comprehension.
Yeah, I know but - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
I was just trying to give the poster the benefit of a doubt that she was busy and didn't look closely. So many of these companies use initials I can see where someone busy and quickly looking might misread it.

Tis the season and all...I figured it was just an honest mistake with the TTS inquiry. Had the OP clearly said TransTech, I think the whole issue could have been avoided.

Cherry-picking on a grand scale as well SM - Former TTer

[ In Reply To ..]
esp. by the lead MTs. Since they have first crack at the (good) jobs, by the time you start your shift you either get zilch or you get impossible-to-hear garbage - so try making your lines.

The worst thing you can do, though, is complain about it, though; you'll get a very vicious chewing out by both the D.O. as well as the "lead" du jour.

correcton - TK

[ In Reply To ..]
As a former TT-er and lead, let me correct something. Although I've been away from TT for more than a year, I hear that things haven't changed. First of all, leads do not type while doing lead duties. They are watching accounts to keep them in TAT and other things like answering emails from MTs about problems, making sure client requests and stats are done, hunting for MTs when they are scheduled to be working and not signed on, telephoning MTs when the account manager offers a bonus, etc. On days that leads are typing, they can't "cherry pick." They were getting the same garbage as everybody else and have nasty accounts. It's actually not "cherry picking" that is a problem, it's how the pools are set up for the favorites to get the easier worktypes. The leads don't have access to a change an MT's pool. In addition to that, there was an evening supervisor who had a few favorite MTs and she was famous for routing all the good jobs to them and that left a bunch of horrible dictators for the rest of the MTs. She's probably still there and still doing that but I can't be 100% sure of that. Leads are never allowed to do the kind of thing she did unless it is it needed for TAT. Leads are peeons like everyone else. Believe me.
Former TTer. You are correct and thanks for the post - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
The cherry picking was done at TransTech in Houston, Texas. The supervisors did not have a line count, so it seemed, when they were "on duty." Yet some did have days that they typed...either for extra or probably bonuses. I was called once by the weekend supervisor to finish my report and get off the account (which was mostly American doctors, and account was eventually gone anyway when VR took over)as this person who was a supervisor and at the top of the management end, wanted the work and there was not enough for her.
Anon, you hit the nail on the head - Ex TTer
[ In Reply To ..]
You were ordered off of the (straight typing/non-ESL account by the supe so SHE could have it? Sounds typical of what I had to put up with. I did a lot of 3rd shift work & did one job after another as they came in, good or bad. But once 8 o'clock came, any "good" jobs magically disappeared from my queue & only the $**t remained. I also had jobs actually pulled from me AS I WAS TYPING THEM, usually long, decent reports, about 3/4 of the way through.

If anyone does complain about anything, the D.o.O. and her sister, one of the acct.mgr/leads, got very vicious and of course denying this.
It's STILL cherry-pick, whether the lead, SM - Ex TTer 2
[ In Reply To ..]
(who does have some power to manipulate the work flow)does the work herself or routes it to her friends/favorites. The result was the same nonetheless... the rest of us got the crap.
TK - Thanks for confirming what I suspected - Another Former TT
[ In Reply To ..]
I had a particularly 'frantic' night supervisor and I think she did this same thing. At the start of my shift, there would be a large amount of dictation, good dictators interspersed with bad. When I'd get my first job, it would be one that hadn't been at the top of the cue. I'd look at my cue and see all of the dregs had been routed my way, and all of the good jobs I'd just seen had mysteriously disappeared.

This night supervisor was also notorious for Frantically emailing me in a panic if I so much as went to the bathroom, asking where I'd gone. I started blind cc'ing her supervisor with my "I was in the bathroom and only gone 5 minutes...Is there a problem?" reply and that solved THAT annoyance.

I have many more similar stories I could relate but those would make it too easy to identify me. Even though I've been away from TT awhile, I know they peruse these boards and apparently enjoy a good lawsuit, so I'll leave it at that.

But, yes, I confirm pretty much everything you stated in your post.

TT not reliable with work - TT EX

[ In Reply To ..]
I dislike this company very much, they are not honest with their MTs, and they tell you they have a lot of work and then you are told they are out of work consistently. The lady who is in charge of the MTs is very dishonest and frankly, I felt that I was being used. When they want you gone your work suddenly dwindles down to nothing.

they also appear to be scouting on Mmodal page under the guise - of being a happy TT employee

[ In Reply To ..]
Everything I hear about them is terrible...except on the Mmodal page. I think it's a recruiter.

According to the job posting this company is based in San Francisco.  The stated pay rate averages $241.00 per month.  If I were this company, I would embarrassed to advertise the pathetic pay they give their MTs in one of the most expensive cities in the country.  If it weren't so tragic that there are desperate people out there looking for a job, it would be laughable.  ...

Posting Pet Peeve
Nov 05, 2010

I have a POSTER pet peeve.  When a comment or question is posted about a specific company, why is the original poster likely to never elaborate?  Why are they wasting everyone’s time? TT And The Posting Of An IC Getting Work From TT.
Jun 06, 2011

Concerned about the posting from the Midwestern MT who said she had work to be done from TransTech and here we all are sitting and checking and no work.  Wondering now about this new SWAT team thing.  From what I was told that the 'beast of the business' is they worry about TAT because they have to take a cut in their portion of the line count wages, so they'd rather meet the TAT?  And yes, we are all cross trained pretty much anyway, but they want lightening speed. ...

TT Posting For Radiology

What is up with this?  They have plenty of inside people to ASK if they want this work?? I don't get it.  How about the old saying from companies that they "hire within first" because they treat the employees with respect since they have been there and are 'loyal.'  So, many scraping for work and being exhausted by the demands of having to produce for pennies.  Where is this job going?  Where is the labor board?  We only have this board.  ...
