Transcend and TTS - Plinkity Plink

I have a phone interview with Transcend out of Atlanta and TTS out of New Hampshire today and next week. I've been working for the same MT company for over 8 years, but they're losing accounts and cutting our pay so I'm looking to possibly change jobs. Has anyone worked for Transcend or TTS? I'm scared to death to change jobs at this point. I know the problems and shortcomings of my current company. I switched jobs once before for a few months and found that all the promises were lies and I was running out of work and not making any $$. All info would be appreciated.

I think you'll find plenty in the archives if you do a search on this board. I work for Transcend, having come in with a merger, and despite negative posts on this board, has been very positive for the last 10+ months. Maybe it depends on your accounts and managers, but my experience is good.

I work for Transcend also like many other having come in with a merger. I always have plenty of work, but I do multiple accounts to keep up as they do like to keep things in TAT. They, however, are very flexible. If you like days you can flex time to evening hours if you run out of work during the day. You always get e-mails about hot spots that need extra help and your team leaders are always willing to help. I do find, however, that it is the squeaky wheel who gets the oil.

I work a weekend shift every week, and I know who's scheduled to work the weekends. When work is low, usually at least 2 or 3 of the selfish people are on cleaning up work that they should be leaving alone. The company should put restrictions on this kind of thing, but often times they don't.

I was on the EditScript side. .I believe they use Dictaphone as well. The accounts I had were easy. I never had a problem. I left because the accounts I was on go low around Thanksgiving and didn't get back to normal until after Valetine's and I barely hung on. .so I bounced.

I worked for Transcend after my company was bought out by them. Very disorganized place, they deliberately overhire consistently in order to keep up TAT and make their clients happy, they don't mind too much if their MTs run out of work. Because of that, they sort of turn a blind eye to MTs working for other companies. I knew many MTs who worked in another place outside of Transcend to keep up with the seasonal variances in workflow. If you go to Transcend and just keep your head down and type and don't draw attention to yourself, and definitely don't accept any other position other than MT, you should do okay there. You will run out of work there though, especially going into autumn, so try to keep your other job if you can. Good luck!

you are planning to work for Transcend. You will go broke the first 6 months. Transcend has cut our pay several times and runs out of work constantly. The editing jobs are terrible and you are paid diddly squat for those.
Management just does not care about its employees. If you have any issues, do not expect to hear from Human Resourseless because they do not respond to e-mails or telephone calls. The only thing I can say is pay is on time, even if it is wrong. (Watch carefully on bonuses, overtime or holiday pay, they will definitely make a mistake there and pay you much less per hour than they promise.)
Their platforms stink and it does not get better.

and checking the system 7 days a week. I have just recently had that happen to me. I am not one of the previous posters though, but my paychecks have become a joke lately.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm probably not jumping ship at this point in time. My company has cut pay and the workload is low, but at least I know what to expect with them and they are very good about answering emails. I wonder if there are any companies out there who pay for quality and good work ethic and have plenty of work. Seems like a thing of the past. It may be about time for me to change careers.

I am curious as to if the TLs are meeting their requirements.  They are expected to type 75-80% of their time and get paid by the line as well .  I am very suspicious that they are not typing VR all day, having their work sent to India, etc, and are getting the straight typing.  They get paid a flat fee per month for their administrative duties on top of that.  I wonder if they are experiencing no work and looking at a blank screen most of their time& ...

I have read dozens of posts on the board about Transcend, some good and a lot not so good.  However, I think there is an explanation for some MTs loving it there and others hating it so much. Transcend is a company made up of many other companies through mergers. The original Transcend who existed first, before acquiring other companies seems to be the problem.  On the other hand, for example MDI/Transcend, for the most part does not seem to fit that description. I was with the company for over five years, not once failing to meet the requirements of me yet I was told my position would have to change to 2nd or 3rd shift if I wanted to keep my job as there were no positions available for 1st shift.  Two days after resigning I see they are hiring for 1st shift positions on a typing only platform which is what I wanted. Did anyone else get the memo from Transcend (soon to take over from DTS) about the line rate change for the transitioning employees from DTS?  It was elegantly written, but basically it said that when the accounts are switched over the VR that the line rates will decrease but productivity will increase and no cut in pay is expected.  It is happening exactly how the posters on this board that have been through takeovers by Transcend said - decreased pay. I've been offered a job with Transcend but it is part transcription and part SR.  I've never done SR and have no idea what to expect or what I will earn.  Anybody have any averages for SR lines per hour or work for Transcend and do SR and transcription?  I transcribe about 250-300 lines an hour, if that makes any difference.  Thanks for any words of wisdom. ...

I have been with Transcend for several years.  I loved Transcend in the beginning.  The people cared about me, actually made me feel worthy and valued (25+ years experience) and I felt as though I was part of a family.  I was one of the highest producers because I actually ENJOYED my job.  My quality score, even with high production was over 99% consistently.  Something I took MUCH pride in.  In the past year, all of that has changed drastically...so drastically.&nb ...

At least when they bought my smaller company they didn't cut my pay.  Restructured it, yes, since they didn't pay incentive bonuses, but made absolutely sure I didn't lose money.  Nuance, on the other hand, just gutted me after buying Transcend.  MASSIVE pay cut that is now causing me to have to find a second job.  I already have worked every weekend and almost every holiday for the last 12 years I've been in this industry, now I get to work 7 days a week ...
