Thinking of applying to TTS - anonymous

Posted: Jul 21, 2014

I'm assuming the competitive pay is probably 8/4.  But what are their benefits like; cost, coverage, etc.  Is the PTO decent?  I've seen mixed messages on here.  Some are really happy, some are not.  Any info appreciated.  TIA

3/6 for employee..nm - Like it or not

TTS employment - Cary

TTS only offered me 6 cents a line; I signed on with Amphion instead because they pay 9 cents a line! and Amphion is hiring!

How are they to work for; nasty attitudes etc., can you make a decent line count on what platform? Benefits good coverage, costs, etc. TIA

My experience with Amphion - been there

[ In Reply To ..]
I worked for Amphion a couple of years ago after 12 years with another MTSO. Though their line rate was and apparently still is higher than the going rate, at the time I worked for them they did not pay for spaces only VBC. I thought I could make up for the difference, but could not and found that the higher line rate did not compensate for not getting paid for spaces.

Just wanted to be sure that was noted for others considering Amphion.

I'm an IC but - sm

I'm kicking some serious bootay on the line counts, making way better money than I have been for years even taking into account the tax issues. On the Escription platform I straight typed over 1000 lines the first day I used it because it's so user-friendly if you're used to Word and the training is so good. And they don't do that VBC crap. I had an email from Amphion inviting me to interview but they didn't get around to sending it to me until I had already been at TTS for almost a week! I have nothing but good things to say about this company and I worked for 4 other big MTSOs and a couple smaller ones that went out of business. I'm making WAY better money than I have in several years.

I'm with you. I get a great line count with TTS - and my pay is better than

[ In Reply To ..]
any of the others out there. I get paid for every character and space you see on the document, whether it be header and footer, auto populated test, normal or whatever. Paid for every one of them. I don't know about all accounts but I love mine VR as it is highly trained. And management is very helpful and friendly. That's my experience.

totally agree with the above 2 posts - newbutold

I make much better money at TTS then I do at Nuance. Their VR is so much better. I use Editscript with both companies but TTS is far superior than Nuance is. I am IC but they are great to work for. Their training is one on one and not those stupid conference calls that are a complete waste of time. They have saved me from having to go on food stamps.
I make 8/5 and type at least 1500 a day and NOT at TTS - Keep looking
[ In Reply To ..]
There are still good jobs out there. If you calll that making good money . . . Sad.

At TTS. 1000 lines at straight typing which is rare would only be 60.00
At a decent company it would be 80.00. Just saying ....don't settle for the low pay.

Editing would give you 30.00 versus 50.00 at 1000 lines.
Yes TTS is very low pay and the work will run out because it is from - Nuance
[ In Reply To ..]
And Nuance gets their cut...until the VR learns, the off to the cheaper country labor. And you say you make 8 and 5, but you don't say where. Maybe if you did, others would HAVE to raise their pay.
You have to understand, even with the lower rate - with excellent platform the pay is good
[ In Reply To ..]
considering what is paid today. I can do over 4,000 lines a day in VR easily and that is at least $160.
If it was "easy" to do that, - everyone
[ In Reply To ..]
would be raving about working at TTS. I think saying it's "easily done" is misleading. It all depends on dictator quality, VR accuracy, and assigned accounts/familiarity with facilities.
I know of at least one acct this may be possible with. nm - bubba

As an IC at TTS, do you have to make a schedule? - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't mind making a schedule, but what if you can't work those hours once in a while or flex them a little bit. Is this acceptable as an IC? Thanks

yes - newbutold

[ In Reply To ..]
There have been times where things come up and I just send them an email and tell them that I have to quit early or work later, etc and there has never been a problem.
Are you required to make up that time then? - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I am doing that at my PT job now but I have to make up the time. Is TTS strict about getting the 20 hours in per week? Thanks for the info!

Applying For Job
Jan 10, 2011

Okay, this is somewhat of a strange situation.  I have been looking for a job in the field that I was in prior to becoming an MT 11 years ago, which would be a full-time position with benefits.  Currently I am IC.  I had lost my previous job due to downsizing and the office/company that I worked for basically closed it's Wisconsin branch except for a handful of employees.  I just found out that one of the employees at this small Wisconsin branch of the company that I use ...

Considering Applying To Diskriter
Nov 15, 2010

I am considering applying to Diskriter.  I just received an email with some questions.  I am wanting to know any info on the criminal background check.  I had some hot checks about 7-10 years ago and paid them off then, but am worried about this background check and also my credit is not that great.  Could someone please clue me in?  Also, do you need to take a picture of your desk/work area to work there?  I have a alcove in my bedroom where I do my work since I live in an apartment.  I ...

Done Applying For MT Jobs
Apr 10, 2012

I need to write this for my own sake. I can no longer apply or test for these company positions. I am being rejected in one way or another by all of them. I have done this for going on 30 years. I can't take it anymore. It is so very very painful to deal with this. I think in my heart I have given up finding any MT position or any job at this point in my life. All I do is get angry, cry, throw things. Very very depressed and I get from friends is either God has something special for ...

Does anyone ever simply e-mail a resume to a company rather than completing the long, drawn out application they want filled out when you click the link to apply?  I have 30 years of experience and do not want to spend time filling in information about every job I have ever had and why I left, where I went to school, emergency contacts, etc on their application, only to never hear from the company and would prefer just to e-mail a resume with a cover letter.  Does anyone ever do this? ...

Be Very Careful When Applying To SoftScript
Dec 05, 2009

Be very careful when applying to SoftScript.  They have many openings but I have applied, when through the testing, got an interview, but they never called and when trying to find answers they never respond.  I would be very skeptical of working for a company like this.  I also checked a little into them and found out that I was not the first one that this has happened to, plus getting work can be a problem and keeping work can be a problem.  ...
