I don't know if they have VR - ex-STMT

They didn't when I worked there. But stay away. Read the archives on this board about Silent Type. It's all bad and it's all true.

says they require VR experience. Maybe it's a new account?

You have been forewarned. However, everyone has to live and learn for themselves.

You will constantly be lied to and told there is plenty of work; only to get NJA on the system. It is never that they do not have work, it is always YOU JUST NOT WANTING TO WORK---WTH??!! why would you not want to work, it is what your pay and benefits are based on. You will be told YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE NOT MAKING PRODUCTION, but can you confirm this with other MTs?? Of course you can't! You do not have access to the other MTs at ST.

That said, if you read the postings on this board, you will see you are not the only one who is not getting work at ST and they are being told the same thing you are being told.

At the end of it all, you lose your benefits, do not get paid for the PTO you earned previously because you lose those too and will then be told to bring up your production or they will be forced to let you go, as they have no part-time MTs at ST. Soooooooo~~~ the question is how do you bring your production up IF THEY HAVE NO WORK??

But you try ST, you might like them!

Just as a side note ~~ if you decide to give ST a try, I would suggest you get them to pay for your accommodations upfront, as I never received any reimbursement for my expenses.

And, before you ask, yes I did repeatedly ask about it.
and another thing... - ex-STMT (first one who posted)
[ In Reply To ..]
I did get my reimbursement of $500. However, because THEY tell you which airport you must use and which hotel you must use, it cost me $900 to go. When I went, it was just 2 days... 3 days will cost you even more. I still have no idea why they insist on in-house training. Their system could be learned over the phone.

Also, if you don't think your pay is correct, you have no way to check or verify. If you ask, she tells you that her figures are correct.

When I was there, she paid by the page. But if you have a page with just a line or two on it, you will get reamed for not figuring out how to make it fit on the previous page. Then they will figure out a way and you won't get paid for that page.

So very happy I left! Please, just run, don't even think about working there!
Why should it matter which airport or hotel you use? - Unless theyre getting kickbacks.....(nm)

they are LUDDITES. I mean, come on, even I can learn to use a BlackBerry, can't they learn to use the technology out there. Have they never heard of Go To Meeting?

I didn't my reimbursement either. That was like $500 out of my pocket. And that was 4 years ago, and I also billed her and asked repeatedly.
no reimbursement also - ex STer

I never got travel reimbursed, although she swears up and down she did.

Once she got divorced, the whole thing went South. No jobs, more lies!!

That must be a standard phrase all MTSO management and team leaders are taught on Page 1 of their "How To Screw Your Workers" employee manual.

I heard that phrase so many times, in so many different contexts (i.e., software problems, NJA, conflicting instructions, and unintelligible dictation) that I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing out loud every time my team leader called me up and said those words to me.

Good luck with that.

Crazy place and, really, someone should tell the recruiter that the "bonus program" no longer exists, among other benefits that have been eliminated. Competitive wages is also a joke because "wages" at ST are based on production and, when there is no work, you can't produce, WHICH means you don't make any money.

The company is for sale. I got an email from a company that is selling Silent Type. sm - Lowly MT

They asked me to a sign a confidentiality agreement. I was laughing. I don't think they realized that I am just an MT, made a whopping $26,000 last year. Can't afford to but much with that!

Are you a current employee? If so, did you ask M about it?

This doesn't make sense to me - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Why would a company that is trying to sell another company email an MT and how would they even get your email address? Also, why would they ask you to sign a confidentiality agreement? Maybe I'm missing something here.

I used to be an MTSO but sold my very small company 10 years ago. sm - Lowly MT

I must be on some list because I still get those kind of emails and letters now and then. This one was specifically for Silent Type.

I would say there is no point... lies flow freely in that place. This is not the first time I have heard of ST being shopped around.

Can anyone give me info on Silent Type, either on the board or by e-mail? Would like to know about steady work flow, general idea about line rates, if they provide equipment, straight typing versus VR, weekends required, and do they still require you to train on site at your own expense and if so when is that reimbursed?  Any current info would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks in advance. ...
